2 killed, 3 wounded in sea attack

TWO people, including a militiaman and his 14-year-old daughter, were killed in an attack last week by sea marauders offshore Zamboanga del Sur, the police reported.

Three others, the wife and two daughters of the militiaman, were wounded in the same attack that took place in the municipal waters of Dumalinao.

The Zamboanga del Sur Police Office (ZSPO) identified the fatalities as Robert Labor, 37, and his daughter, Rodelyn. Both succumbed to multiple gunshot wounds.

Wounded were Labor's wife, Jenilyn and daughters, Girlyn, 2, and Yeasha, 2. They were admitted at the hospital for treatment.

Police investigation disclosed that the Labor family was aboard a motorized banca when a group of armed men aboard another pump boat attacked the victims.

The victims were traveling to the village of Bibilik, Dumalinao coming from Mama Village of the same town when the suspects attacked them, the police reported.

In the initial investigation police said the incident was the handiwork of pirates who were after a Bantay Dagat militiaman named Robert.
