THE summer fest officially begins. The neon-themed kick-off party at MuzicHaven Bar glowed with smile and excitement. Why? Because this year’s edition of Visit Davao Summer Festival (VDSF) is bigger and wider!

VDSF 2018 is LongFest and WideFest. “Longfest” because the summer festival will run for ten weeks, and “WideFest” because the festival widens its coverage to seven areas to include Compostela Valley in the list. Original participants were Davao City, Sta. Cruz in Davao del Sur, Island Garden City of Samal, Davao del Norte, Mati City and the province of Davao Oriental.

From scaling the country’s highest peak to swimming the channels of Davao Gulf, from riding the waves of Mati to running the trails of Samal Island, races and competitions will happen on land and water.

Not only that, tourists can feast their eyes and palates across the Davao Region. Touring the attractions and savoring the different flavors of the destinations will be up for grabs at a discount.

But before the first of the summer festival event’s bang its starting signal, a toast is in order. Vice-Mayor Bernard Al-ag led the ceremonial toast and wished good luck to VDSF 2018.

Present at the party were representatives of the seven participating cities and provinces, and participants in the coming races.

The night’s celebration was all about camaraderie, the key ingredient to why VDSF has lasted this long.
