TWO robbery suspects riding in tandem on a motorcycle were killed in a shootout on Saturday along Libby Road, corner Newtown Village, Bago Gallera in Matina in Davao City.
Report obtained from the Davao City Police Office (DCPO) showed that one of the two fatalities was identified as Cris Tamboboy, while the other suspect has yet to be identified.
The incident happened around 12:10 p.m., last Saturday, April 28, after the two suspects along with another unidentified man robbed a couple, Dioriza Baquial and Raymund Baquial, in the area.
According to the victims, the three-armed men took an iPad worth P30,000 and Samsung phone worth P6,000 at gunpoint.
Toril Police conducted a pursuit operation in coordination with the Talomo Police, catching up with the two suspects at Bayanihan in Barangay Toril Proper, who fired at them.
The suspects were rushed to St. John Hospital and later transferred to SPMC where both were declared dead.
Recovered from the possession of Tamboboy were one caliber .45 caliber pistol and three plastic sachets of suspected shabu, while the other suspect was found in possession of one caliber .38 revolver and two sachets of suspected methamphetamine hydrochloride, locally known as “shabu.”
The authorities likewise also recovered from the scene two disposable lighter and the stolen items. The cadaver of the two suspects were positively identified by the victims as the ones’ who took their gadgets.
Police said the two were also responsible for the series of robbery hold up in Talomo and Toril areas since last year. The Scene of the Crime Operatives has already conducted parallel crime scene investigation.
