BENGUET baker Eric Espadero churned in a gross of 90 for a net of 76 to win the group 1 honors in the yearender golf tournament at The Cliffs, in San Fernando, La Union.

But the biggest winner of the one-day tournament was Maria Macam, who scored a five over 77 to win the overall crown in the yearend tournament at the nine-hole course recently.

Macam scored two birdies, against a lonesome double bogey and five bogeys as she won the low gross plum scoring a net of 65, beating close to 80 players.

Jun Langit scored a 10-over 82 for a net 56 for the low net title in the tournament, which offered a brand new car and P100,000 cash as well as a golf cart on holes-in-one made in the ninth and seventh holes, respectively.

Espadero was tied with Gerry Valmoja who lost through count back at the last hole. Eric Gidaya took third honors with his gross 89 for a net 77.

Leoniel Pelayo had 86 for a net 65 to win Group II. Behind him were Doy Heraldo (93=70) and Jingo Bautista (89=71).

JB Bolong had 96 for a net 68 to win the Group III title. Placing second and third were Jojo Valete and Alfred Ortega who assembled 96 and 105 for nets of 71 and 77, respectively.

In women's competition, Sonia Bruce had an 88 for a net 70 win by at least eight strokes over local Delia Ortega. Leonida Whybrow had 102 for net 80 to take the third place trophy.

Ernesto Garcia had a gross of 84 for 61 net to win the seniors crown. Finishing second and third, respectively, are Winston Flores and Gerardo Garcia, who had 92=70 and 91=70.

In the super seniors' competition, Eduardo Zarsiatas churned in 100 for net 72 to take the title. It was a one shot victory over Robert Rigall who came in with 88 gross and another shot off Stanley Sharpe (94=73).

Biboy Valete, meanwhile, scored 82 to win the juniors title. He was seven shots off Leon Ortega, while Lui Manguiat had 92 to settle for third place. (Roderick Osis)
