Clark mall to open Global Pinoy Center for OFWs

CLARK FREEPORT - In a bid to provide a wholesome shopping experience for Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) and their families, SM City Clark announced Thursday the opening of its first ever Global Pinoy Center in the province.

SM Public Relations Officer Venus Manalang said that the Global Pinoy Center is one of the biggest projects that will be launched nationwide by SM Supermalls this 2010.

The project is a specialized all-in-one convenience stop that will cater services for the OFWs, Balikbayans, beneficiaries and their guests.

"In SM City Clark, the Global Pinoy Center is strategically located at the west wing of the mall near Hypermarket and is targeted to open this January 2010," Manalang said.

The Global Pinoy Center is a one-stop shop for services specifically tailored for the Global Pinoy and his family's needs. By being a member of the program, one will enjoy information services, remittances through BDO, and internet communication services.

Each member is given a Global Pinoy card which entitles him and his family P80,000 worth of discounts in education, health services, hotels, restaurants and various shops. For example, a member may avail 20 percent off on tuition fee in Asia Pacific College or 15 percent off in National University.

The Global Pinoy card lets OFWs and their families enjoy rewards, discounts and freebies from SM Supermalls and other partner establishments. It also grant access to the Global Pinoy Center lounge and to several fun events and informative seminars held by SM Cares, making every family's stay at SM Supermalls worthwhile.

Any OFW who has an active contract abroad is qualified for membership. All one has to do is completely fill out the Global Pinoy membership application form and submit it with any valid ID (for Global Pinoys and former Global Pinoy) or any ID and proof of remittance (for beneficiaries) at any Global Pinoy Center.

Manalang said that the Global Pinoy Center is a great help for OFWs as a Global Pinoy member can get valuable information such as investment opportunities.

The center also accommodates several terminals with direct access to government employment agencies like Philippine Overseas Employment Administration, Overseas Workers Welfare Administration and Department of Labor and Employment, making it easier for them to finish their paperwork and to get important materials from the International Electrotechnical Commission.

Also, since the center is situated inside the mall, it permits applicants to procure necessary information without difficulty.
