A LEADING training and recruitment arm of the country's top call centers will conduct recruitment services in Cagayan de Oro on January 8.
Top officers of People2Outsource Inc. will visit the Public Employment Service Office (Peso) at City Hall on Friday to screen and accept qualified applicants to be deployed in different call centers in Manila.
Councilor Alexander Dacer, chair of the City Council Committee on Labor and Employment, is encouraging those who are looking for jobs to visit the Peso office.
Dacer said People2Outsource will provide enhancement communication skills training, health and values seminar to those who will be qualified for the job.
Peso manager Juvy Pasa said more firms are scheduled to conduct recruitment services in Cagayan de Oro in a few weeks.
In Northern Mindanao, which included Cagayan de Oro, there were an estimated 2.72 million employed persons in the third quarter of 2009, up by 2.22 percent from the 2008 data of 2.66 million. But while labor force participation rate went up by 0.40 percent in the quarter, employment rate went down to 94.3 percent from 95.6 percent in the previous period.
Nevertheless, total employed persons in the quarter increased by 24,000, from 1.801 million 1.825 million.
The services sector -- which included communication, hotels and restaurants, transport, real estate and education -- was the biggest employer with 46 percent, dislodging the agriculture sector which employed only about 42 percent.
But agriculture is still the biggest sub-sector, employing 697,000 people in the third quarter of 2009 compared with the same period in 2008. (TDCB)
