Smart pushes dynamic learning integration into K to 12 program

THE PLDT-Smart Foundation (PSF) and Smart Communications, Inc. (Smart) have joined forces with the C & E Foundation, Inc. (CEFI) in integrating the innovative Dynamic Learning Program (DLP) into the K to 12 curriculum in line with efforts to align basic education in the country with global standards.

CEFI annually holds training roadshows all over the country for private schools in aid of the K to 12 implementation of the Department of Education (DepEd), particularly in training the teachers for senior high school.

“DLP is one of the most effective ways to deliver instruction. Since our foundation is involved in teachers’ training, DLP complements our emphasis on content,” said Dr. Isagani Cruz, president of CEFI. He was Undersecretary of DepEd during the Arroyo administration.

Developed by Ramon Magsaysay Awardees and physicists Dr. Chris and Dr. Marivic Bernido to improve students’ academic performance in their school, Central Visayan Institute Foundation (CVIF), DLP promotes independent learning among students leading to improved academic performance in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics.

“The integration of the CVIF-DLP into the new curriculum will help foster independent learning that will prepare them for the requirements of K to 12,” said Dr. Chris Bernido, CVIF president.

PSF and Smart will be supporting the training roadshow that will be facilitated by CEFI with the Bernidos and DLP ambassadors as resource speakers. At least 20 legs have been calendared up to May 2016.

“This partnership further bolsters our efforts to help elevate basic education in the country at par with global standards. A sound foundation in education will go a long way in strengthening the competitiveness of our graduates,” said Ramon R. Isberto, head of Public Affairs at Smart.

“Education is one of PSF’s main advocacies and we have been working with the Bernidos in helping propagate their innovative framework of teaching so that more students in the country will benefit from improved learning outcomes,” said Esther O. Santos, president of PSF.

The one-day free training program will focus on the following topics: K to 12; senior high school curriculum; subject specific discussion: Science, English, Math; CVIF-DLP and simulation of classroom learning.
