Public warned against ‘WILD’ diseases

ZAMBOANGA City Health Officer Rodelin Agbulos has warned the public against “WILD” diseases with the onset of the rainy season.

“WILD” stands for Waterborne diseases, Influenza, Leptospirosis and Dengue, which are all prevalent during the rainy season.

Agbulos advised the public to always wash hands before they eat and boil drinking water to avoid waterborne diseases.

He also said that the public should avoid wading on flood, especially if they have an open wound as they may be vulnerable to leptospirosis that can be contracted if flood waters are contaminated with rat urine.

Agbulos said residents should always keep their surroundings clean to thwart reproduction of dengue-carrying mosquitoes.

He also advised the people to immediately seek consultation whenever they feel they are sick. (Bong Garcia)
