Billiard star supports Mabalacat sports development

MABALACAT - Pocket billiards star Efren "Bata" Reyes has reaffirmed his support to the sports development program of the local government here.

Reyes issued the statement, saying the effort of the municipal government will spare the youth from illegal vices particularly the use of illegal drugs.

Reyes made the commitment during the opening of the 9-ball tournament in Barangay Poblacion here recently. Reyes, a resident of nearby Angeles City, have been supporting billiard tournaments here.

Mayor Marino "Boking" Morales has welcomed the announcement of Reyes and vowed to support the initiative of the cue artist who had brought fame to Pampanga and the country in the international sports arena.

"Susuportahan po natin si Efren Reyes sa kanyang mga adhikain para sa ikauunlad ng sports sa bayan ng Mabalacat upang maiwas din ang mga kabataan sa illegal drugs," said Morales.

Morales and Reyes have been supporting 9-ball tournaments in the past years. Both of them are attempting to develop new talents in sporting events.

Reyes reiterated that he will support the campaign of Morales against illegal drugs.

He said the holding of billiard tournaments is designed to attract the youth and spare them from the illegal drug menace.

Reyes lauded the administration of Morales and vowed to support the latter's reelection bid.

Reyes noted that Morales is "pro-development and has the vision to make Mabalacat a new gateway."
