Oro business center extends working hours

THE newly-constructed Cagayan de Oro Business Permit and Licensing Registration Center has extended extra working hours to accommodate more business permit applicants.

City Treasurer Lino D. Daral said the one-stop shop business permit registration center now opens to the transacting public from 8 a.m. until 7 p.m., extending two working hours beyond the regular working time schedule.

The adjusted time in accepting business permit applications, which already started on January 9, 2010, also covered Saturdays and Sundays, Daral said.

At the same time, the City Treasurer informed the public that the registration center will open until midnight on the day of the deadline on January 20, 2010 so as to serve last-minute business permit applicants.

In the wake of this development, Daral urged all applicants who want to renew their business permits to avoid the rush and instead apply as early as possible before the January 20 deadline.

Those who will apply after the January 20 deadline permit will pay an additional 25 percent surcharge on basic taxes and two percent per month interest, the City Treasurer warned.

It can be recalled that Mayor Constantino Jaraula fast tracked the construction of the Cagayan de Oro Business Permit and Licensing Registration Center after signing late last year a partnership agreement with the Usaid-supported Local Implementation of National Competitiveness for Economic Growth (LINC-EG) officials.

LINC-EG aims to assist the local government of Cagayan de Oro in streamlining the efficiency of the city's business permitting and licensing processing. (CIO)
