GOVERNMENT forces have foiled a roadside bombing after they caught in flagrante a suspected New People’s Army (NPA) bomber who was about to detonate two improvised bombs in the hinterlands of Compostela Valley.

Lieutenant Colonel Eduardo Gubat, Eastern Mindanao Command (Eastmincom) spokesman, identified the arrested NPA rebel as Rito Lucnod, alias Ka Junto.

Gubat said members of the Philippine Army's 28th Infantry Battalion were on security patrol when they caught Lucnod holding a triggering device and about to detonate two improvised bombs fashioned out as a landmine around 2:45 p.m. Monday in Barangay Araibo, Pantukan, Compostela Valley.

He said the troops recovered from Lucnod two improvised bombs with blasting caps, triggering device, and 100 meters electric wire.

Police are set to file appropriate charges against Lucnod.
