Adlawan shines brightest among Motosuit hopefuls

YOUTHFUL Jon Jon Adlawan leads the cast of hopefuls for the Rider of the Year award in the 2009 MS Motosuit Motocross Series awarding night.

Adlawan, who has won eight of the 17 leg races in the Expert Open Class, bagged the division title with 490 points.

Following the PSR Racing Team ace rider Adlawan is Juvenille Abellar who had 310 and Clark Wagas is at third place with 238.

Abellar, however, secured the Intermediate Class title with his 448 points with Weng Yapparcon and Clark Wagas placing behind while another young rider John Flores topped the Novice Open Production with 489 points beating Dongkey Sanchez and last year’s ROY awardee Siegfred Ornopia for the title.

Dark horse

Ornopia again proved to be an unstoppable force as he finished the season as the top points earner while ruling the Executive A class once again.

Ornopia, the owner of the Keiz BJ Racing Team, scored 613 points as teammate Jun Enriquez took the Executive B title with 424 points and Felipe Montejo ousted last year’s champion Butch Flores with a mere four points to win the Executive C diadem with 346.

While Sanchez took three titles—the Beginner’s Open Production, the Local Enduro and the Open Enduro categories with 442, 527 and 543 points respectively, making him eligible to take the ROY title this year.

BJ Pepito meanwhile took the Pewee Division title (7-years old and under class) with 300 points while Brylle Ornopia dominated the Mini Class (10 years old and below) with 561 points.

The winner of the ROY title will be announced during the awarding ceremony which will be held this month.
