PHILIPPINE National Police (PNP) Director-General Jesus Verzosa has issued 300 units of radio transceivers to the Zamboanga Peninsula Police Office (ZPPO).

The radio units were handed over Monday by Chief Superintendent Roque Ramirez, PNP Communication and Electronic Service director, to ZPPO Director Angelo Sunglao in Zamboanga City.

Ramirez said that the issuance of the radio transceivers is aimed to boost the communication capability of the PNP in the Zamboanga Peninsula area.

He said the PNP, through his office, is putting up communication network in the country and multi-trunk in strategic areas of Zamboanga Peninsula, to include the provinces of Basilan, Sulu and Tawi-Tawi.

Sunglao said the radio units will be distributed to the different police offices in the region.

Sunglao's command covers the provinces of Zamboanga Sibugay, Zamboanga del Norte and Zamboanga del Sur, as well as the cities of Dapitan, Dipolog, Isabela, Pagadian and Zamboanga City. (Bong Garcia)
