YLAD Cubzats played big against rival Betag to gain the solo leadership in the ongoing Baguio Slo-Pitch Tournament at the Wangal Sports Complex in La Trinidad during the weekend.

YLAD blasted rival Betag 16-5, to earn a sure slot in the semifinals of the tournament with one more playing date left for Cubzats which will be slated January 17.

Cresencia Village Barangay Batters, meanwhile, continued their magical run as it notch the second place in the over-all standing after defeating the hapless Cordillera Career Development College in their game Sunday afternoon, 12-1.

With a 6-2 win-loss record, the Batters can close out the elimination at the number two spot and enjoy a twice to beat advantage against the Advocates this coming weekend.

Betag fell to number three (6-2) after their sorry loss against YLAD but can still occupy the number two spot if it wins in its last game next Saturday after putting their acts together in handling Saint Louis University a 7-5 beating.

SLU (6-3) closed the elimination round with a win against Tabangaoen, 6-1 and currently enjoys the fourth and possible last seat in the race for the semi-final round of the tournament.

The Razors, the champion during the tournament's inaugural run in 2008, is keeping its hope alive for a possible semi-final appearance after edging Tabangaoen, 8-3, and improved to a 5-3 win-loss card but needs to escape Betag in their last elimination round game this Saturday.

The Royals (3-4), meanwhile, capped a 12-6 advantage over lowly CCDC (1 8), while the Advocates edged La Trinidad Water District, 7-4, but the later bounced back to edge cellar dweller CCDC, 15-10 to earn its first win in the tournament with a 1-7 win loss clip. (Roderick Osis)
