Mobile snatchers nabbed

ANGELES CITY - Two men who allegedly snatched a woman's gold necklace while riding their motorcycle along McArthur Highway in Barangay San Jose here were arrested Tuesday.

The suspects were identified as Anthony Manarang, 27, and Rex Pineda, 32, were charged in court with Robbery With Violence Against Person, said Chief Inspector Rene Aspe, Police Station 1 commander.

Aspe said that Racquel Mananzan, 33, was traveling along the highway on board her motorcycle when Pineda grabbed her necklace.

Pineda, who was riding in tandem with Manarang on board a motorcycle, managed to push Manazan's motorcycle through kicking after taking her jewelry worth P22,000, Aspe said.

The victim fell on the pavement and sustained minor injuries on different parts of her body.

With the help of the San Jose Bantay Bayan members, a team of policemen led by Inspectors Romeo Olog and Joel Bagaoisan were able to pursue the suspects.

Police officers recovered the victim's gold necklace from Pineda.

The suspects are now detained at the Police Station 6. The City Prosecutor's Office has set a bail of P120,000 for each of the two suspects.

Aspe said the suspects are also being tagged linking to other incidents of robbery in the area.

"Some of their victims visited the station and identified the suspects as the ones who took their belongings by force," Aspe said.
