12 Metro Shuttle buses burned in Ecoland garage

A TOTAL of 12 buses of the Davao Metro Shuttle Bus, Inc., were burned down inside the garage on Ecoland Drive, Davao City on Wednesday night.

Based on the blotter at the Talomo Police Station, only 11 bus units were burned. A follow up investigation showed 12 units torched at around 11:45 p.m. Wednesday.

"Dose tanan ang nasunog kay naa pa may usa ka bus nga nasunog, pero mapuslan pa hinuon ni kay pintura ra ang damaged (A total of 12 were burned but one can still be used as only the paint was damaged)," Rene Eroy, telephone operator said Thursday.

SPO1 Reynaldo Gustilo, duty investigator of Talomo Police Station, in his spot report lists seven of the buses were totally damaged while four are partially damaged.

It was learned that the fire started in one of the buses undergoing repairs and quickly spread throughout the entire garage.

"Basin dunay battery o faulty wiring ang hinungdan sa maong sunog kay wala may tawo anang orasa kay gabii naman kaayo tong higayona (The cause might be faulty wiring since no one was in the garage at that time)," Eroy said.

Members of the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) and other fire volunteers put out the fire in 30 minutes.

The estimated damage of the fire is yet to be released as of this posting.

Meanwhile, a man landed in the hospital after he was shot at by unidentified suspects while he was having a drinking spree at the Island Garden City of Samal at around 1:30 a.m. Thursday.

The victim was identified as Ericson Lacorte, 20, resident of Barangay Cogon, Igacos.

Based on the records of the Davao Medical Center (DMC), the victim sustained a gunshot wound in the left shoulder.
