CCPO urges Dumpit to surrender

CEBU City Police Office (CCPO) Director Patrocinio Comendador advised SPO1 Adonis Dumpit to give himself up and face the murder case filed against him, once he exhausts all legal remedies.

Comendador said the city police force is willing to assist the National Bureau of Investigation 7 in serving the arrest warrant against Dumpit, who is now assigned with the Regional Security Agencies and Guards Supervision Unit 7.

He said the CCPO received a copy of the warrant last Tuesday afternoon, but Comendador only learned about it last Wednesday morning.

“He (Dumpit) should exhaust all the legal processes. After that, kong wa na gyu’y mahimo (if there’s nothing else he can do), he should surrender,” Comendador said.

And when he is taken into custody, he should not be held at the Cebu City Jail, Comendador said. His life will be at risk since he put many inmates there himself, he said.

Officials

Meanwhile, Cebu City officials who are close to SPO1 Dumpit also asked him to surrender to authorities to face the charges against him.

Mayor Tomas Osmeña and Councilor Augustus Pe Jr. took exceptions to speculations that public officials are protecting Dumpit that is why he remains at large.

Nowhere

The officials said they don’t know where Dumpit is, but asked him through the media to turn himself in.

“I will try to look for him... No one is above the law. Anyway, I believe he will turn himself in,” Osmeña said. Dumpit once served as the mayor’s close-in aide.

In a separate interview, Pe said he cannot turn Dumpit in because he does not know where the policeman is and he has not been in touch with him since he was reassigned to the Firearms, Explosives, Security Agencies and Guards Supervision Section (Fesagss).

“In the first place, I have no idea where he is and he is not under our jurisdiction anymore because he’s no longer with CCPO. If I can, I’ll ask him to surrender to clear the doubts,” said Pe, chairman of the City Council committee on public order and safety.
