5.3 magnitude quake hits Tagum City (9:14 a.m.)

CEBU CITY – A 5.3-magnitude earthquake struck Tagum City Friday morning, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) reported.

Phivolcs director Renato Solidum said the earthquake was felt at 8:06 a.m. Friday. The tectonic tremor hit 32 kilometers southeast of Tagum City at a depth of 29 kilometers, Solidum said.

There were no immediate reports of damage or injury, he said.

Solidum said the quake was felt at Intensity 4 in Davao City and Intensity 3 in Tagum City and President Roxas in North Cotabato province. Intensity II was felt in Matalam and Makilala towns in North Catabato, Kidapawan City and General Santos City.

The Phivolcs said that it expects moderate aftershocks. (ABC/Sunnex)
