ONLY three contractor-bidders submitted their bids on time for the construction of the P455-million City Hall, said Bids and Award Committee (BAC) chairman Lawyer Edgar Gil.

Gil said there were 13 initial contractors that bought the bidding documents. However, three have withdrawn and four submitted their bids on time. Of the four, one was disqualified.

The three bidders are Hilmarcs Construction, Asset Builders and FF Cruz Construction, all of which have good track records in the industry.

The joint venture of AM Oreta Construction and Iloilo-based International Builders Construction (IBC) was disqualified in the bidding evaluation process for not passing the evaluation standards set by Pacific Orient consultant Engineer Conrado Goco, Gil said.

Hilmarcs has worked with the construction of the Iloilo provincial capitol and Bacolod government center.

FF Cruz is the builder of several establishments in the Visayas, including the TTK Tower building housing the GSIS in Iloilo City.

Asset Builders, meantime, is an international contractor with building projects in Asia and Metro Manila.

Gil said the bidding evaluation checklist includes the past performance of the contractor, equipment, and working staff and crew. A notice of award will be sent immediately to the winning bidder next week.
