‘Kung Tayo'y Magkakalayo’ airs Monday

FROM the makers of hit teleseryes “Tayong Dalawa” and “Iisa Pa Lamang” is another soap that is sure fire to give new meaning to primetime viewing.

ABS-CBN’s “Kung Tayo'y Magkakalayo” is topbilled by Gabby Concepcion, Albert Martinez, and Kris Aquino along with teen stars Kim Chiu, Gerald Anderson, and Coco Martin.

The casts, considered the best of the Kapamilya Network as each of them comes from hit teleseryes, promise to come up with unpredictable plot.

Who can forget the characters of JR (Gerald), Ramon (Coco) and Audrey (Kim) in "Tayong Dalawa," Mayor Enrique Rodrigo, played by Albert, in the unbeatable primetime show “May Bukas Pa” and the recently concluded "Dahil May Isang Ikaw" where Gabby played the part of Jaime Alferos.

Kris, the Queen of all Media, meanwhile also has hit shows to boast – The buzz and Showbiz News Ngayon. The last teleserye she did in the Kapamilya network was “Hiram.”

In “Kung Tayo'y Magkakalayo,” Kim will play the character of Gwen, the daughter of Kris (Celine) to old time flame Gabby, who will breathe life to the character of Steve.

Celine will keep the paternity of Gwen and Steve from each other at first because she is married to Frank, played by Albert, who is having an affair with another woman.

Robbie, played by Gerald, will meet Gwen in different circumstances and will later on fall in love with her. He was the adopted son of Steve, and the brother of the latter's wife Selena, played by Maricar Reyes.

Coco will then play the role of Ringo, Frank's (Albert) son to mistress Astrud, played by Jacklyn Jose, and Gwen's half brother.

This will also be the debut teleserye of James Aquino-Yap Jr., who will play Kris's son in the teleserye.

“Kung Tayo'y Magkakalayo” will defy the laws of love and will draw a yarn on how an individual’s love for another is put to the test and how destiny can entirely re-arrange one’s life.

Under the direction of Erick Salud, Trina Dayrit, and Dondon Santos, three of the biggest names in teleserye directing, will shape the teleserye with action, family drama, and love story.

“When ‘Tayong Dalawa’ became a hit, we were challenged to do something na pwedeng pumantay sa naabot ng ‘Tayong Dalawa’ (When 'Tayong Dalawa' became a hit, we were challenge to do something that can meet the standards made by 'Tayong Dalawa'),” Dayrit said.

Santos then said that they were really excited to do the project.

“We were very excited to do the project. Knowing na orginal ang materyal, challenge sa aming mga direktor na makapagset ng high standards (Knowning that the it's a original material, it is a challenge for us as directors to set the tone of the teleserye),” he said.

Salud said that though they are challenged with "Kung Tayo'y Magkakalayo" they are also nervous at the same time especially that ABS-CBN's primetime shows always gets higher rating.

“Siyempre hindi lang yung pressure ang nagtutulak sa amin na pagandahin ang serye. It is the viewing public (Of course thr pressure is not the only thing that pushes us to create a wonderful series but all the viewing public).”

“Kung Tayo'y Magkakalayo” will premiere this Monday, January 18, on primetime bida. (Glaiza Jarloc/Sunnex)
