AFTER dropping their first game, twice-to-beat San Miguel Beermen bounced back strong by dominating the Meralco Bolts, 102-86, Monday evening at the Smart Araneta Coliseum to barge into the semifinals of the 2015 Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) Governor's Cup.
The Beermen kept the lead all throughout the game. The Bolts, however, rallied to trim the Beermen's lead by just one point, 64-63, during the third quarter.
However, the Beermen managed to thwart any comeback attempts from the Bolts behind the heroics of Marcio Lassiter and Ronald Tubid who combined for 25 points off the bench.
Arizona Reid led the charge for the Beermen with 29 points while reigning most valuable player Junemar Fajardo was named player of the game after posting 22 points and grabbing 16 boards.
Meralco's Andre Emmett finished with 28 points while Reynel Hugnatan added 17.
"Ang dami naming meetings ng management. Noong practice, sabi nung mga players ko: 'coach, don't worry. We will win. Magpapakamatay kami sa laro.' They [Bolts] put us in a scary situation. Good thing, we were able to adjust overnight," Austria said during a post-game press conference aired over TV 5.
With the win, San Miguel Beermen arranged a semis clash with Rain or Shine Elasto Painters set tomorrow, Thursday.
The other semis match pits Alaska Aces and Purefoods Star Hotshots Wednesday.
