Mayor wants drive vs criminality improved

MABALACAT -- Mayor Marino “Boking” Morales has directed the newly-installed town police chief to implement programs for peace and order in the municipality.

Morales told Superintendent Rolly Mendoza, town police officer-in-charge, to intensify drive against criminality.

The mayor said Mabalacat is known to be a peaceful town and businessmen and multi-national firms have confidence in investing here. “Investors loved to locate in our town because of its peace and order.”

He also directed Mendoza to work for the eradication of illegal drugs.

“Alam naman natin na ang drugs ang sumisira sa ating mga kabataan (we know that drugs destroy our youth),” Morales said.

Mendoza earlier said that he will create a special drug enforcement group, which will go after drug pushers.

The new town police chief also said he will pursue the plan of his predecessor, Superintendent Gregorio Lim. “We will continue the plan of Superintendent Lim to create the DEU (Drug Enforcement Unit), which I think may greatly help in our operation against illegal drugs.”

Mendoza officially assumed his post last Thursday replacing Lim who was relieved on January 8.

The new chief vowed to intensify campaign against the increasing number of crimes, including robbery, carnapping, among others. (Reynaldo G. Navales)
