Halal Week starts

THE Philippine Halal Week will start on Tuesday, May 1, featuring various activities and conferences on the Halal industry.

"This event is the most unique Halal Networking because the national and the local government will be with us to render their services for the Halal related updates," Marilou Ampuan, Universal Islamic Center (UIC), said during the Kape sa Dabaw press conference held on Monday, April 30, at the SM City Davao.

The event is organized by the UIC together with Davao City Halal Industry Development Council (DCHIDC).

The Philippine Halal Week will start with the Halal Media Conference and Halal Food Presentation at Tinhat Boutique Hotel and Restaurant.

Bannering the week-long activity is the first Philippine Halal Conference on May 2. The conference is spearheaded by the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) and will be held at Marco Polo Davao at 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

A total of 400 to 500 delegates from Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao are expected to join the first Philippine Halal Conference.

Then on May 3 will be the Halal Networking at the Marco Polo Hotel from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m.

The Department of Science and Technology (DOST) and Department of Agriculture (DA) will be present for the Halal Networking to lend their services to participants. Exhibitors from Indonesia, Malaysia, and Singapore will also be present for the event.

Meanwhile, the 3rd Philippine Halal Trade and Tourism Expo will be conducted on May 4 to 6, at Abreeza Mall Davao. During the opening at the expo, the Department of Tourism National will unveil their program on promoting Davao City as a Muslim-Friendly Tourism Destination.
