ALL white and sacred, Garin Farm in Iloilo is not an ordinary travel destination. It just might be the perfect one to visit.
Summer of 2016, I was hesitant to go at first because the place is a pilgrimage site and I am not a religious person. At the time, I was feeling distant from Him because of family problems. But something prodded me to say yes to my cousins who planned the outing.
As soon as I stepped out of the car and looked up, I was captivated by the view.
Garin Farm offers fun activities like zip line, boating, fishing, horseback riding, and the like. It also has a mini zoo.
But the best thing that the farm offers is its pilgrimage site. The stairs leading to the peak has life-size statues of the Stations of the Cross. Passing through it makes you feel that you were there when it happened.
The way up is an uphill battle but once you reach its peak, your tiredness will disappear. All of your sweats will turn into a bath of blessings. All of your efforts will be paid off.
Life-size statues of angels, statues of clouds, and the gateway-to-heaven-like cross struck a thought to me that He was just right there, that He is always there. I may not realize it but seeing the heaven-like scene made me realize that everything is happening for a reason and He must not be blamed for anything.
With sight of the clouds above which seems near to my position I raised my hand as if trying to grab one and sealed my eyes with a prayer and hopes that the pieces of the puzzle will be back and fixed sooner.
And swoosh! A cold breeze kissed my skin. He must have heard me. I painted a smile in my lips and started walking, enjoying the scenery.
The place gave me glimpse of heaven that brought me back to my senses and which also had saved my faith unto God. (Brisbane Q. Titular, FSUU Intern)
