City government to hold trade mission in US

THE City Government will conduct an “Iloilo City Trade Mission to the United States of America” on June 4 to 9.

Spearheaded by the Iloilo City Mayor Jose Espinosa III with the cooperation of Mrs. Gina Sarabia Espinosa as the head of private sector delegation, the trade mission will cover New York on June 4 and Washington D.C. on June 7.

The event will mainly focus in spreading the good news about the capital of Iloilo province and its environs.

“This will showcase and lure more investors to come in our city,” Espinosa said.

Tentative venue of the trade mission in New York City will be held in Kalayaan Hall, Philippine Center, 556 5th Avenue and Philippine Embassy in Washington D.C.

First presentation will comprise of the following:

a. The City Government’s new business incentives

b. New initiatives to ease doing business in the city

c. Conservation program to preserve landmarks and heritage sites

d. The City Government’s latest projects including improvements of facilities at public markets and plazas, a proposal for a halfway home for children in crisis, assistance to the elderly and the poor as part of the mayor’s “Pag-ulikid” (Caring) initiatives

Other main subjects includes: Key Investments and Economic Sectors: What Iloilo City Offers; Investment Focus: Property Sector; Sectoral Focus: Iloilo City’s Premier Academic Community; Partnership Session: Matching Partners with Opportunities; Preview: The Region 6 Trade Mission in New York City on October 2018 and the Ilonggo Fashion and Jewelry Show: Hablon, Weaving, Embroidery and Metalcraft.

The city mayor will also lead the delegation of “Ilonggo student-performers, government officials, business and academic leaders, artists and private individuals to the 120th Philippine independence day celebration in New York City”.

The contingent together with the group from the province of Guimaras will proceed in Washington DC on June 7.

The program will also give spotlight to the Ilonggo fashion stars of Designers Guild of Iloilo.

Contact as the lead project coordinator by the main US-based hosts, the Asian American Chamber of Commerce and the Philippine American Chamber of Commerce-Washington D.C. chapter, Manila-based Philippine Council for Management Research Institute, Inc., will invite the participants.
