“A lot of dentists have become running enthusiasts themselves. A lot of people are hooked to it and we want to promote not just the sport but dental health as well,” said Cebu Dental Society official Clementino Diez.

The race features the 3-kilometer, 5K and 10K distances and will be open to all interested runners. The organizers expect some 1,000 runners to take part in the race including 300 dentists and 400 dentistry students.

“The proceeds of the race will benefit to the Cebu Dental Society’s outreach projects. We will be purchasing supplies so we can continue doing our free dental clinics. We want to go further in the provinces to render services to those people who do not have access to professionals,” said Philippine Dental Association Cebu president Rodevic Docor.

The registration fee is pegged at P250 with a discounted rate of P150 for students. The registration sites are located at dental clinics Green Apple and Citident, Cebu Doctors University and Southwestern University.

Since it will be held on Valentine’s Day, the organizers will have a special prize for the first couple to cross the finish line together. Aside from the cash prizes, the

dentists will give free prophylaxis to the winners.

Aside from the running event, Christine Carvajal said they will also be holding competitions in basketball and bowling. They will also be hosting outreach activities like blood letting, dental education and a free dental clinic, where they have teamed up with a group of dentists from Japan.
