DA launches ‘School-on-the-Air’ program

WITH a total of 540 farmer enrollees, the Department of Agriculture (DA) and Agriculture Training Institute in Central Luzon in coordination with the Provincial Government of Tarlac launched the School-on-the-Air (SOA) on high value crops production technology on April 26-27 in Tarlac.

Dubbed as “Kitang Swak na Swak sa Gulay na Tumpak,” the SOA aims to educate farmers on the agricultural breakthroughs in vegetable production.

The 16 training modules are overview of SOA and enterprise development of vegetable industry, importance and status of vegetable production in the Philippines, morphology and growth stages of vegetables, vegetables varieties and seed selection, vegetable cultural management, integrated crop management, good agricultural practices on vegetable production, nutrient management, water management, weed management, pest and diseases management, organic vegetable production, harvest and post-harvest management, value-added products, off-season vegetable production, and simple agribusiness planning.

The first launching was held on April 26 at Paniqui Municipal Hall Covered Court, Paniqui.

On April 27, the program was launched at Laus Sports Complex, Concepcion and Tarlac City Hall, Tarlac.

The said SOA program will be aired over DZTC 828KHZ every Saturday and Sunday, 5:00am-6:00am from April 28 to June 17.
