A taste of the Big Apple

A taste of the Big Apple

THE thing about brunch is that it has got a posh ring to it. But it all depends really on how you do brunch. Elevating this experience is Soho Park with its New York-inspired brunch taking place from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. every Saturday.

A glass of mimosa greets you as you settle in your seat, your first cup of Americano paired with a three-tiered tea set filled with homemade breads and pastries with butter and jam. For the next course, choose from its selection of dishes from stacked pancakes smothered with yogurt or maple syrup and fresh fruits, smoked salmon and scrambled egg on toasted sourdough schmear with cream cheese or its ube waffle and fried chicken dish, a must-try.

Apart from that is the USDA bavette steak beef tapa, a full English breakfast or eggs Benedict to name a few. To finish is natural yogurt with homemade granola, fresh fruits drizzled with honey.

While you’re indulging in all of this, beats by DJ Marvin set the mood, making for an upbeat morning.

“You can’t ignore a New York brunch. It’s the focal point of the weekend. Friends and family get together, and set themselves up for the weekend with some high energy and a naughty little mimosa,” said Robert Leonhardt, chef and part owner of Soho Park, about the reason behind the concept. “We wanted to make Saturday mornings special. There’s no one in the city doing a modern brunch. There’s no one doing brunch like we do and we wanted to lead the way with a New York/American brunch.”

Soho Park is located at the ground level, Asia Premiere Residences, Cebu IT Park, Cebu City.

“What’s your favorite diet, Obz?” Tita Blitte asked.

“My next meal is my favorite diet.”

Uncle Gustave laughed. “Hmm, always the artist! Remember the artist who replied when asked what his favorite work was? He said, ‘The next one.’ The guy didn’t know what he really liked.”
