Shabu Shabu nears sweep; ESJ aim to join leaders

THE 2018 NBA President’s Cup goes high gear as league leader University of Negros Occidental-Recoletos/Red House Taiwan Shabu Shabu eyes win number 6 against Melfern (2-3)a ndYBAC/ESJ/Fyr Fyter (2-2) tries to catch up with the top teams.

Coming off strong wins over the weekend and on Labor Day, UNO-R in Red House Taiwan Shabu Shabu uniform takes the floor at 3:30 p.m. while YBAC/ESJ/Fyr Fyter faces Duke Jay Farm (3-3) in the main game at 5:15 p.m.

Shabu Shabu downed YBAC, 76-68, on Sunday but the latter bounced back with 93-70 victory over Melfern on Labor Day. On the same day, Duke Jay Farm also booked an 87-82 win over La Consolacion College/Davies Paint-J Squared Construction.

On Sunday, Davies Painters (1-3) will challenge University of St. La Salle/Freeze Sportswear (1-4) in the opening game at 2 p.m. with the La Sallians coming off a stunning performance against undermanned Dawn Rent A Car, 164-44, on May 1.

Other games on Sunday pit are Colegio de Sta. Ana de Victorias/Silver Dragon Construction (5-1) against winless Dawn Rent A Car (0-6) at 3:45 p.m. followed by YBAC/ESJ/Fyr Fyter versus Supreme ABF/Silvergraces Construction (4-1) at 5:30 p.m.

YBAC has to win its four remaining games to at least end up at 6-2 just in case CSAV and Supreme ABF lose a game in its last games in the elimination round.

Admission is free at the bleachers and P25 at ringside. (HGD)
