Man arrested for ‘raping’ daughter

POLICE arrested a 40-year-old call center agent who allegedly raped his daughter in Cebu City two years ago.

Chief Insp. David Señor, head of Cebu City Police Station 2, said they caught Corgan (real name withheld) in IT Park in Barangay Lahug, Cebu City at 1 a.m.

The arrest was based on two warrants issued by Regional Trial Court (RTC) Branch 20 Judge Bienvenido Saniel Jr. and RTC Branch 24 Judge Jose Nathaniel Andal.

Corgan is included in the list of Cebu City Police Station 2’s most wanted list.

Señor said the cases are non-bailable.

The police official said they served the warrant in the suspect’s house last Sunday night, but the suspect was not around.

They later went to the IT Park and found the suspect, who was on a break from his work.

Corgan allegedly committed the crime last year when his daughter was still 14.

The crime was known after the daughter told her grandmother about it.

Complaint

Señor said the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) 7 conducted the inquiry on the incident and the bureau filed the complaint against the suspect.

In an interview with reporters, Cogran denied he raped his daughter twice, saying his estranged wife was just mad at him.

Article 266-A of the Revised Penal Code as amended by Republic Act 8353 (the Anti-Rape Law) states statutory rape is also committed even none of the following circumstances happened: “when the offended party is deprived of reason or is otherwise unconscious” and when the offense is done “through force, threat or intimidation and by means of fraudulent machination or grave abuse of authority.”
