Poultry production up

TOTAL poultry production in Davao Region for 2017 went up by 0.61 percent in value to P5.45 billion from P5.41 billion in 2016, Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) data showed.

Based on the data, the produced chickens in the entire region for 2017 amounted to P4.04 billion. This amount decreased by 0.35 percent compared to 2016 chicken production value of P4.05 billion.

However, the production of chicken eggs amounted to P1.29 billion for 2017 which is an increase by 3.57 percent from 2016's value production of P1.25 billion.

For the ducks produced by the region, there was an increase in value by 0.17 percent to P59.8 million in 2017 compared to the 59.7 million produced value in 2016.

Moreover, the value of duck eggs produced in the region has increased excessively by 4.69 percent at P56.25 million for 2017 from its P53.73 million total value in 2016.

In terms of the volume of production for chickens in the region, there is a recorded decrease of about 0.34 percent for 2017 to 71,758 metric tons (MT) from 72,007 MT in 2016. On the other hand, chicken eggs produced for 2017 increased by 3.58 percent at 26,407 MT compared to the production for 2016 at 25,495 MT.

Ducks production in the region for 2017 has increased slightly by 0.17 percent at 1,154 MT from 1,152 MT. For duck eggs production, there was an increase of 4.69 percent to 1,248 MT for 2017 from 1,192 MT in 2016. (Kent Warren H. Fugoso, FSUU Intern)
