Amazon opens PH office

AMAZON.COM Inc. announced yesterday the launch of its first customer service center in Cebu, creating over 300 new jobs in the city and 1,000 more skilled roles by the end of the year.

The site is set to support Amazon’s customers around the world and will also provide 24/7 customer service to customers in North America and the United Kingdom. The first Amazon customer service center in the Philippines includes a range of occupations, which include customer service associate, team manager and group manager roles.

“We are excited to be investing in Cebu and working with such talented people, especially since Filipinos are known to bring high levels of experience and passion to their work,” says Tom Weiland, Amazon worldwide customer service vice president. “Amazon’s customer service has long been acknowledged as one of the strongest in supporting and delighting customers day in and day out. It makes me proud to see the Philippines become part of our global network.”

Amazon’s Cebu location joins the company’s roster of customer service centers. In the United States, Amazon was ranked no. 1 by customers for the eighth year in a row, according to annual survey results released by The American Customer Satisfaction Index. Similarly, the Institute of Customer Service’s The UK Customer Satisfaction Index saw Amazon UK ranked no. 1 for the fifth time in a row by customers.

The launch of Amazon’s customer service in the Philippines will further cement Amazon’s ongoing commitment to invest in the region. It follows the successful launch of Amazon Web Services (AWS), the world’s most comprehensive and broadly adopted cloud platform, in the country in 2016.

AWS Philippines has been integral to the growth of AWS for Southeast Asia and is further evidence of AWS’ continued efforts to help organizations in accelerating their move to the cloud. (PR)
