Arroyo, Manay Gina in good terms

DAGUPAN CITY -- After the national broadband network controversy, which separated best friends President Gloria Macagapal-Arroyo and Gina “Manay Gina” de Venecia apart, are the two now smoking the peace pipe?

De Venecia, wife of former Speaker Jose de Venecia Jr. said Wednesday that she and Arroyo are now in good terms for about a month now.

She did not mention, however, the circumstance behind their “reconciliation” or who made the first move.

“Masyado ng magulo ang mundo para may magkaroon pa ng bigat sa dibdib natin. Mabuti na yong i-release na lahat ng ill feelings, lahat ng hurt, and lets all have a new beginning. Dahil we never know kung kailang tayo kukunin ng Diyos. Tignan nyo yong matalik naming kaibigan na si Secretary Cerge Remonde. He is only 51 years old when he dided,” she stated in an interview at their residence in Barangay Bonuan Binloc here.

“Mabuti na yong you are at peace with yourself, and you have peace with the world, I think that is the best. Marami naman kaming pinagsamahan. When KC died she was there every day. When she was campaigning, ako ang lagi niyang kasama,” added Manay Gina. “Yong circumstances na nangyari, we cannot prevent that, nangyari na. Let’s just move on.”

The matter on Arroyo and Manay Gina's relationship came about after the latter was asked if she will seek the speakership of the House in case she is elected as congressman of the fourth district of Pangasinan.

Manay Gina said no, as the Speakership usually goes to a second or third termer congressman. That she'd perhaps train her eyes on the deputy speaker post.

Will she support the outgoing president in case Arroyo will seek the Speakership? Manay Gina said she will cross the bridge when she gets there.

“You have to ask him,” she answered when asked whether her husband and Arroyo have also reconciled.

Manay Gina is running under the Nationalist People's Coalition (NPC). She is up against Celia Lim, wife of former congressman and Dagupan City mayor Benjamin Lim.
