Silver Dragon zaps Dawn Rent A Car, 83-78

COLEGIO de Sta. Ana de Victorias/Silver Dragon Construction survived Dawn Rent A Car, 83-78, to fortify their number two standing in the ongoing 2018 Negros Basketball Association President's Cup at the Bacolod Tay Tung High School gym.

Silver Dragon which currently holds a 6-1 card came out with a huge 20-13 opening quarter lead and extended their dominance in the second period as Josue Segumpan and Jeric Adorio hit nine and eight points, respectively, while Alvin Jamora delivered eight points for Dawn.

MJ Magbanua sparked with 11 points alongside Jamora’s eight points as Dawn surged to 27-15 in the third canto – booking their first lead in the game, 51-49, with 3:41 tick in the period. But Jeffrey Manday knocked a buzzer-beater triple to take back the lead for Silver Dragon, 58-55, entering the playoff period.

Silver Dragon sizzled with an 8-0 run in the opening of the fourth period for an 11-point lead, 66-55. Dawn was able to cut the deficit down to two points, however, Manday and Segumpan nailed back-to-back treys for Silver Dragon to ice the game and kept the former winless in seven outings.

Adorio paced Silver Dragon with 21 points as Segumpan added 18 while Manday contributed 8 points.

Jamora led Dawn Rent A Car with 23 points as Magbanua backstopped with 23 points while Alfie Villariza added 21 points including four treys.

In the other match, YBAC/ESJ/Fyr Fyter escaped ABF Supreme/Silvergraces Construction, 91-88.

Both teams were tied 88-all with 3:24 mark in the final period before Janus Calma converted a basket off a broken play to put YBAC/ESJ/Fyr Fyter on top by two points.

ABF Supreme/Silvergraces Construction import Frederick Ngoh Elombi has his chance to tie the game but his jumper came short.

YBAC’s playmaker Renz Solomon missed both free throws after a foul. Silvergraces had another chance to steal the spotlight with less than a minute left but, Errol Doromal turned-over the ball for YBAC as Coleen Testa split his charities after a foul.

Solomon anchored YBAC/ESJ/Fyr Fyter with 17 points backstopped by John Nermal and Testa with 14 points while Elombi has 23 for ABF Supreme/Silvergraces Construction while Ramer Javillo added 19 points and Doromal has 17 markers.
