Sungduan: Macau Lang-ay 2018

THEY may be miles away from home but the Cordillerans in Macau and Hong Kong continue to embrace their rich culture.

This was witnessed during the celebration of the Macau Lang-ay Festival 2018 held recently at Sintra Amesade Square Macau wherein they showcased their unique culture through a presentation highlighting the practices they usually do during planting season and courtship, and wedding dances with rituals thanking God for the abundant blessings.

At least 300 Cordillerans working in the said country including the members of the Mountain Province Community Hong Hong represented by Luzia Rose Afidchao gathered for the festival which was also attended by Mayor James Pooten of Sagada and Mayor Johnson Bantog II of Besao who served as guest of honor and speakers.

The two town mayors both lauded the OFW’s for all their sacrifices of being away from loved ones just to give a better life for their family.

With the theme “Becoming self-supporting, to be supportive, the festival which was also a celebration of the 10th anniversary of the Mountain Province Philippines Association, was also attended by Consul General Lilybeth Deapera from the Philippines Consulate General-Macau.

She congratulated the MPPA for another successful festival which is one way of strengthening the unity of the Mountain Province Macau.
