DAVAO City secondary football team is seeking to win the gold medal not just in the coming Davao Region Athletic Association (Davraa) meet but also in the Palarong Pambansa.

Head coach Ramonito "Lalas" Carreon Jr. said Wednesday they have been training for the gold medal and nothing less, even in Palaro.

"We are aiming for the gold. Otherwise, we should not be training at all. But if the Lord will only give us the silver, we will accept it," Carreon said.

He said the city's selection is composed of attackers with only few defenders.

"I've converted two goalkeepers as defenders. This team might even make it to the Palaro but the ball is round. It still depends on what the Lord has in store for us," Carreon told Sun.Star in the vernacular.

The city squad is bannered by Emar Learning Center's Jomar Acedo, Dominador Tato IV, Isaiah Shakaina Simms, Faith Jul Canales, Frances Jay Abrasaldo and Imardino Polo, Ateneo High School's Derrico Gabriel Diamante, Romeo Raphael Du, Jan Ryven Lumabao, Francis Patrick Lim, Emmanuel Josue Brisson and Jorem Jabile along with Davao City National High School's Rocky Custodio, Mark Angotas, and University of Mindanao's Danilo Lascuna.

Carreon will be assisted by Reynaldo Rabor.

The Davraa football competition will be held in Bansalan on March 12 to 14.
