CAMP OLIVAS -- A remarkable decrease of 25 percent in crime incidents in Central Luzon has been noted, with the continuous implementation of enhanced, focused police operations and the resumption of Project "Double Barrel."

Chief Superintendent Amador Corpus, Police Regional Office (PRO)-Central Luzon director, said during the Regional Election Security Forum on May 9 at Kingsborough International Convention Center that compared to the January 1 to April 30, 2017 period, crimes in the region have been cut down by almost 25 percent this year, especially the eight focused crimes: murder, homicide, robbery, theft, physical injury, motornapping, and rape.

Corpus also said that the number of incidents recorded from January 1 to April 30, 2017 was 3,237, while 2,242 crimes were recorded in the same period this year. This year's figure is 995 or 69.26 percent lower than last year's.

"This significant decrease in crimes can be attributed to the leveling up of our anti-criminality measures, particularly on motorcycle-riding suspects and our resumed anti-drug campaign, as well as the continuous community support which contributes a lot in addressing lawlessness in the region," he said.
