WEARING an elaborate headpiece and a stunning gown representing Misamis Oriental province, Berjayneth Goc-Ong Chee, was a bombshell after winning the bronze medal award during the Miss Earth Philippines 2018 Cultural Attire Competition held in Intramuros, Manila on Thursday, May 10.
Chee, who recently won the Best in Evening Long Gown, wowed the judges as she sashayed her kuyamis-inspired cultural attire made by local designer Jie-Jie Aisa.
Chee graced Thursday night’s competition with her charming accessories made of kuyamis material that perfectly swayed along her high slit, body-fit dress.
Kuyamis is a variety of sweet coconut that is grown in many parts of Misamis Oriental.
“Her Kuyamis-inspired cultural costume last night exquisitely represented the evolution of culture of the Misamisnons inspired by the abundance of coconut in the province. She was able to put across through her costume the idea of Kuyamis Festival of Misamis Oriental,” Misamis Oriental Tourism Department chief Jeffrey C. Saclot said.
Chee’s cultural attire embodied the major livelihood of the people in Misamis Oriental, Saclot said, adding that the lass from Balingasag town have indeed made the province proud.
On Thursday, Zamboanga Sibugay’s Halimatu Yushawu and Cebu City’s Marla Alforque bagged the gold medal and silver medal, respectively.
Miss Earth Philippines coronation night will be held on May 19, at the Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City. (Emie Chloie Mejala, FSUU Intern/SunStar CDO)
