22 more chiefs face complaints

THE filing of complaints against the barangay captains continues.

Twenty-two other Cebu City barangay captains face administrative and criminal complaint before the Office of the Ombudsman for failing to liquidate financial aid that the City Government released to them three years ago.

Mayor Tomas Osmeña lodged an administrative complaint for grave misconduct, conduct prejudicial to the best interest of the service and conduct unbecoming of a public official and criminal complaints for the violation of some provisions under the Revised Penal Code against them.

All in all, Osmeña has sued 59 barangay captains.

The respondents include Toong Barangay Captain Alejandro Borres, Zapatera Barangay Captain Evelyn Letigio, Taptap Barangay Captain Florentina Malazarte, Tagbao Barangay Captain Ana Tabal, Suba Barangay Captain Joel Sable, Pahina San Nicolas Barangay Captain Antonio Caruzca, Pamutan Barangay Captain Ronald Labitad, Lahug Barangay Captain Jovito Taburada Jr., Guba Barangay Captain Orlan Herrera and Cambinocot Barangay Captain Reynald Lauron.

Toong has unliquidated financial assistance amounting to P12.5 million, Zapatera has P12.1 million, Taptap has P8.09 million, Tagbao has P8.9 million, Suba has P10.3 million, Pahina San Nicolas has P8.8 million, Pamutan has P8.3 million, Lahug has P16.9 million, Guba has P14.6 million and Cambinocot has P16.08 million.

Osmeña also filed a similar complaint against T. Padilla Barangay Captain Manuel Gimeno, Sudlon II Barangay Captain Winefredo Macario, Bacayan Barangay Captain Zenaida Colina, Tabunan Barangay Captain Lucresia Gabato, Sto Niño Barangay Captain Pancho Ramirez, Paril Barangay Captain Casemiro Pilones, Pung-ol Sibugay Barangay Captain Jerson Cadampog, Carreta Barangay Captain Eduardo Lauron, Busay Barangay Captain Amilo Lopez, Buot Barangay Captain Rosita Callino, Lusaran Barangay Captain Armando Ermac and Lorega Barangay Captain Fritz Gerald Herrera.

Barangay T. Padilla has unliquidated financial assistance amounting to P8.5 million, Sudlon II has P8 billion, Bacayan has P12.2 million, Tabunan has P8 million, Sto. Niño has P423,312, Paril has P8.6 million, Pung-ol Sibugay has P8.07 million, Carreta has P8.3 million, Busay has P7.1 million, Buot has P14.6 million, Lusaran has P7.9 million and Lorega has P11.1 million.

Earlier, Osmeña already warned that around 50 barangay captains will be sued over the financial assistance that the City distributed in the previous years.

Opposition city councilors have described the move of the mayor as politically motivated. (RVC)
