Fujidenzo scores 2 wins, Mangkas ties with Samec

League leading Fujidenzo-BUSG traps Gators of Alijis Basketball Club, 87-69 and stopped the Blazers of Team Meliton, 88-65 in the 50U category of the ongoing 2015 Sharp-Basketball Unified Sports Group Invitational at the JGC gym of Goldenfield Commercial Complex in Bacolod City.

Mangkas of La Carlota City caught Saturday Men’s Club (Samec) napping and coasted to a 93-61 walk-in-the-park win on Sunday and tied the Homesite bunch at 2-6 in the standings.

The older Fujidenzo Huskies relied on Nene Sibaya's 15 points of his 24 in the first half to set the tone and a 50-37 halftime lead over Alijis. Center Rey de Guzman added 20, Toto Plagata chipped in 12, and Edgar Basco and Melvin Baclay have 11 each.

Bobby Regalado was the only double figure scorer for the Gators with 12 as the ABC dribblers trailed 59-75 at the end of third canto.

Against Team Meliton of Talisay, Baclay hit five triples for 17 points, Sibaya had 15 while playing point guard in the absence of Ireneo Morales; Adrian Melocoton scored four successive three-pointers for 14. Vic Dueñas collected 10 of his 14 markers in the final quarter while de Guzman chipped in 10.

The Blazers never had a chance after trailing 26-51 at half even if the trio of Pagulong-Quinlat-Belonio combined for 34 points. Meliton dropped to 5-3 following ABC's 5-2 and Fujidenso's 9-1 record.

The top four teams will advance to a crossover semifinal where the top two teams enjoy a twice-to-beat advantage.

Game on July 4 (Saturday) pits Team Meliton against Tangub at 4:30 p.m. while on July 5 Mangkas collides with Alijis at 3 p.m. and at 6 p.m. the Blazers meet Samec all hoping to win to improve their chance to the next round.(HGD)
