Villarosa urges police to do crime prevention tips

BACOLOD City Councilor Noli Villarosa, president of Liga ng mga Barangay, urged Senior Superintendent Francisco Ebreo, acting director of Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO), to instruct all the station commanders to post general safety and crime prevention tips within their areas of jurisdiction.

Villarosa said the Philippine National Police (PNP) is committed to ensuring public safety and reducing the incidence of crime in the community.

“But there are many things each and every community member can do to reduce his or her chances of becoming a victim or prevent the incidence of crime from happening around them,” he said.

He added it is incumbent for each and every individual in the community especially in residential areas or public and private subdivisions, homeowners to have a full and deep grasp on crime prevention tips for their safety in times of emergency.

Villarosa noted that the PNP should remind the public to observe the crime prevention tips such as to get to know their neighbors and all those residing in their street as they will be partners in watching the activities in their block.

He said the people should be concerned and cooperate in watching activities on the block and reporting the unusual or suspicious behavior to the police and the street watcher officers.

“Get to know your police chief and members of the police station in your area, write down the station's emergency hotline number in a place you can easily see in case you will need police advise or assistance,” he added. (MAP)
