Truck driver shot, escapes hold-up

A TRUCK driver was injured after he was shot by an unidentified man on a motorcycle at Barangay Rizal in Sagay City, Negros Occidental Monday, May 14 night.

Wounded was Jimmy Arturo, 29, of Barangay Guinhalaran, Silay City.

Police records showed that Arturo was driving a canter truck loaded with empty containers when he was allegedly shot by a certain "Metoda" of Barangay Tamlang, Escalante City around 7:30 p.m.

The victim, along with 34-year-old Michael Yanson, delivered containers of gasoline in Escalante City, when they noticed the suspect suspiciously tailing them and was attempting to stop them.

Arturo assumed that the suspect probably wanted to rob them which prompted him to drive faster going to Sagay City. However, he was cornered by the assailant and shot him several times, hitting him on his left upper thigh.

Arturo was rushed to a hospital in Silay City, while Yanson was left unharmed.

The suspect fled. (GYM)
