APALIT -- Some 2,000 high school and college students here received their financial assistance under the Mayor Jun D. Tetangco Scholarship Program.
The local government, through the initiative of Mayor Oscar Tetangco, Jr., released more than P3-million for the educational grants of the students.
Qualified high school students received P1,000 each, while college students received different amounts---from P2,000 to P5,000, depending on the needs of their courses.
"Yung mga high school [students], yearly yung natatanggap nila. Pero sa college, per semester yun," said Tetangco.
Tetangco shared that they already have several successful graduates on different fields since they started the program eight years ago
"May mga CPA [certified public accountant] na kami, sa medical field din. Marami na. Tapos minsan dadalaw sila dito para magpasalamat," Tetangco told Sun.Star Pampanga.
College grantees will again receive their financial assistance for the second semester before the classes start, according to Tetangco.
