CHOOSING a home or a boardinghouse can be a very taxing thing to do especially since you want to secure comfortability above all else.
If you are living in the municipalities or cities outside the city you wish to study or work it takes due diligence to find the the place to stay that fits your needs.
As a resident of the city for almost seven years, I had been hopping to different dormitories and boardinghouses and here are the things I thought one should remember in choosing a house or home.
1. You should choose a boardinghouse or home that fits your income or your budget. It would be hassle for you not to be honest of your capacity to pay. Once you made arrangements, your landlords or landladies, will really expect and wait for you. Heeding your monthly dues can be really helpful for your peace of mind.
2. You must ensure that it has the basic utilities like water, electricity. Like it or not, you will drink or eat, study or do anything else you need to do on your home or rented space. Better also if you can ask your neighbors or the original dwellers in the area or the landlady/landlord how often they experience water and electricity interruptions.
3. You must ensure if the area is prone to natural or manmade threats, like flooding, theft or burglary and the like.
4. If you want convenience, you may also a home that is near your office or school. It may not be a problem though for those who have cars and modes of transportation.
5. For those who want to rent rooms or apartments, If you do not like to experience pest infestations such as cockroaches rats, etc. you may check the quality of the building is new or not. Those old wooden buildings may have highest possibility of holes on its walls or its ceiling. You should also check fire exits, and drainage of the place you eye to live in.
Remember your dwelling will become a part of you, and problems you will face within it can be really a factor of your well-being, and the productivity of your stay as an employee, as a student in a place far away from your loved ones, so choose wisely.
