Transportation officials told to settle differences

THE rift between top officials of the Department of Transportation (DOTr) has caught the ire of Baguio City Mayor Mauricio Domogan.

Domogan confirmed the animosity between DoTR Cordillera regional director Jose Edwardo Natividad and assistant regional director Mohammad Nasser Canoy Abbas brought about by the anti-colorum operations the latter was conducting.

"We told them why don't you fix your problems? That came out because allegedly, the ARD was using my name and Secretary (Arthur) Tugade when he implemented anti-colorum operations," Domogan said.

Earlier, members of the Cruz, Alapang, Bahong, Alno Cooperative Operators and Drivers Association (Cabacoda Inc.) have filed a joint affidavit accusing Abbas of allegedly deceiving them after failing to issue transport franchises.

The four-page affidavit alleged that sometime in April 2017, Cabacoda Inc. decided to form itself to serve the aforementioned area to offer garage shuttle services operating from Cruz, La Trinidad and Benguet Province.

Members Frank and Lawrence Amistoso informed the group of their relative named Jonathan Patnugot or “Jojo,” a close aide of Abbas, who could refer them to the official for assistance in obtaining and securing transport franchises for their vehicles.

This aside from additional joint affidavits filed by Reynardo Bacoco and Juliet Ligawen filing separate affidavits claiming certain amounts asked from them for the release of their apprehended UV express vehicles impounded at the athletic bowl.

Their separate affidavits claimed the apprehension was not transmitted to the proper office and that the penalty for the alleged violation of not carrying their certificates of public convenience was not paid or settled.

"I hope this two heads of the DoTr will iron out their conflicts and work together. When we were in Clark, we had the opportunity to meet Undersecretary Tim Orbos, he confirmed that the problem between the two officials have reached their office and he will soon release their resolution regarding this matter," Domogan added.
