Three days after polls, newly elected barangay councilor gunned down in San Fernando

A NEWLY elected village official was killed by riding-in-tandem assailants outside his hardware store in Barangay Pitalo, San Fernando at 5 p.m. yesterday.

PO3 Marjukim Misuari, desk officer, identified the fatality as Dennis Ponce Ramos, who won a seat in the council of Barangay Bulacao, Talisay City in last Monday’s election.

The 43-year-old businessman succumbed to multiple gunshot wounds. Investigation showed Ramos was about to open the door of his car parked outside his store when the assailants came and shot him several times.

Ramos’ relatives rushed him to a private hospital in Naga City, but the attending doctor declared him dead on arrival.

Crime Scene Investigation personnel recovered seven empty shells of .45 pistol. Misuari said the investigators have yet to determine the motive behind the attack.

The culprits, who wore helmets and black shirts, fled on board their motorcycle after shooting the victim.

Misuari said the witnesses were not sure if the motorcycle has a license plate. (KAL)
