No gun ban violators in Benguet, Mt. Province

CAMP DANGWA, Benguet - For the region, only the provinces of Benguet and Mountain Province yielded no gun ban violators since the law was implemented on January 10.

The Philippine National Police - Cordillera (PNP-CAR) recorded 13 gun ban violations and arrested 11 suspects since January 11 to 18 in the region.

In Apayao, a police officer and two civilians were arrested in Barangay Mataguisi, Poblacion Kabugao and Conner yielding a caliber .38, caliber .22, and one 9-milimeter Armscor pistol.

In Tabuk City three civilians carrying a caliber .38, M16 rifle, caliber .45 and another caliber .38 revolver were intercepted at a mobile checkpoint in Kalinga.

In Baguio City a police officer of the Philippine Drug Enforcement was caught.

The province of Abra had a lone violator of the gun ban, but police efforts were able to arrest a communist-terrorist.

Dominic Guibasan a.k.a. Robot was arrested on January 14 at Barangay Santa Maria Narvacan, Ilocos Sur.

His case is now being heard in Bangued with charges filed against all violators of the Comelec Omnibus Election Code. (Maria Elena Catajan)
