Balicas is new Peso head in Bacolod

BACOLOD City Mayor Evelio Leonardia designated Ma. Rebecca Balicas as officer-in-charge of Public Employment Services Office (Peso).

Balicas, who was formerly assigned as liquidating officer at Land Tax Division, said Tuesday, May 22 that she assumed her post on May 2 to replace Anthony Ayco, who resigned and elected as new chieftain of Barangay 15.

"We are reviewing our ongoing programs, especially the summer jobs and scholarships of the youth," she said.

The City Government had earlier hired almost 1,300 youth for the summer jobs program with the support of Special Program for the employment Students (SPES) of the Department of Labor and Employment (Dole).

Balicas said the summer jobs will end on May 25, and they are now preparing their identification cards, and daily time records for their salary.

She said that 80 of the "summer jobbers" will get 60 percent of their pay from Dole and 40 percent from the City Government, and the rest will be paid fully by the City at P250 per day.

"We will forward their documents to Dole so they can claim their salary," she added.

Meanwhile, Peso will hold a qualifying examination for scholarships program of the city on May 30 and 31 at the Bacolod City College. (MAP)
