Editorial: Still waiting

THE PROVINCIAL Government of Negros Occidental has yet to release the result of its investigation on the controversial Negros First Animal Hub at the Panaad Park and Stadium in Bacolod City.

The structure did not undergo bidding and has no building permit.

Governor Alfredo Marañon Jr. has already formed an investigating committee led by Lawyer Mary Ann Lamis of the Provincial Legal Office.

Vice Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson, like every Negrense, said he will inquire Lamis on the status of the probe.

He said his office follow up Lamis if they have already started the investigation and what is the result.

“We will push them to go ahead the investigation, assuming that they have not yet conducted or done with the investigation,” the vice governor told reporters.

The vice governor earlier said the provincial board will conduct an investigation regarding the issue if they will not be satisfied with the result of the investigation conducted by the committee created by the governor.

Lamis assured the Negrenses there is no whitewash in their investigation on the Animal Hub.

She, however, stressed it is still premature to make any statement on the investigation as they have yet to present to the governor their plans and the people who will be interviewed on the issue.

She stressed there is no cover-up. There is no intention of a cover-up, as they also want to know the truth and they want justice.

The supplier has already come forward and took full responsibility for the construction mess. However, up to now, the contractor of the project has yet to be revealed.
