Bulua girls ready for Minda elims

BULUA Strikers FC coach Junieto Actob is confident that his Lady Strikers will perform well in the Mindanao regional championships of Allianz National Youth Futsal Invitational tournament set on May 26 to 27 at the Mindanao Sports Complex Multi-Purpose gym in Barangay Mintal, Davao City.

“We are ready, although my players are very young, we will give them a good fight,” said a confident coach Actub who is also a teacher at the Bulua National High School.

Bulua Strikers FC is made up of players from Bulua National High School and is one of the few public school in Cagayan de Oro which is active in football.

Coach Jun Actub also said that he has four 12-year-olds in his Girls 14 Under team which placed runner-up to CdO champion Higala FC.

The Mindanao regional championships are for Boys and Girls 14Under and Boys and Girls 16 Under is organized by the Philippine Football Federation (PFF) in partnership with Davao-South Regional Football Association (DSRFA), and the Henri V. Moran Foundation.

Coach Jun Actub’s 12-year-olds are forward Norjean Palatis, goalkeeper Jasmine Joy Palarca, forward Blessie Grace Olarita, and forward Zane Yeng Casas. Completing the cast are goalkeeper Jewel May Actub, striker Marie Frances Clyde Sebial, defender Yuna Capati, goalkeeper Jerith Dimple Apalo, and forward Yuna Capati.

Aside from Bulua Lady Strikers, the Cagayan Misamis Oriental Regional Football Association (CMORFA) is sending to Davao, Corpus Christi School and Golden Harvest FC of Bukidnon in the Boys U16 category, Stonefiel FC of Ozamis City and Higala FC in the Girls U16, Holy Cross FC of Bukidnon and Higala FC in the Boys U14. Higala FC Girls U14 teams is also going to Davao.

All the participants from the different FA’s in Mindanao were expected to arrive in Davao last Friday and are billeted at the Mintal Elementary School and Mintal Comprehensive High School.

As of press time, competition in the elimination round is ongoing until this morning. The knockout round is set today. Top teams will qualify to the National Finals on June 2-3 in La Salle Greenhills in Mandaluyong, Metro Manila. Top teams from Visayas and Luzon will compete in the national finals.

Top players in the national finals will be selected for Bayern Munich FC training camp in Bangkok, Thailand and Munich Germany.
